Portable Linux Apps for any Linux Distro
Jul 25th
Portable applications for Windows and Mac have been around for a long time, but are less common in the Linux world. Due to the complexity of Linux dependencies, and the different way different distributions locate these dependencies, the portable Linux application long seemed like a dream.
Until now.
A new website PortableLinuxApps features a number of portable applications, which will work on any Linux distro. Being portable these can run off any drive or folder you choose.

New conceptual Winds revealed
Jun 5th

Yesterday MSI revealed 2 new conceptual Winds @ Computex, called La Mode and Serene.
Details are few, but here is what is known:
MSI La Mode
The 10 inch La Mode concept netbook looks like a slightly tweaked version of the Wind U160 with an overhauled exterior design. It features an “ebony cloth case with wave-pattern and luminescent MSI logo.” While the case gives the MSI La Mode a bit of flare, it’s also designed to help dissipate heat like the
MSI Serene
This model will be a fanless netbook using “MSI’s thermal technology” and heat dissipation. Because there’s no fan, the 10 inch netbook will be almost silent while operating. MSI says it will integrate the same heat dissipation into all its future products.
Update:
MSI Wind U250 spotted
May 14th

A pre-production sample of the MSI Wind U250 has been spotted at the AMD event in Cannes France yesterday.
There’s not a lot of information about the specs at the moment, but according to the Energy Star web site, the notebook will have a 1.3GHz AMD Athlon II Neo dual core K325 processor — which just so happens to be one of the new low power chips for ultrathin laptops that AMD introduced yesterday.
The K325 has a total power draw of 15W and 2MB of L2 cache. It’s basically the slowest/cheapest dual core AMD processor for ultrathin notebooks. It will also support up 4GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive.
It carries the same chassis as all the other 12-inch MSI Wind notebooks with the addition of a faux carbon fiber pattern covering the lid and palm rests.
