MSI Wind U250 leaks
Mar 30th

According to Energy Star webpage a new MSI Wind named U250 is in progress.
The MSI Wind U250 will have a 1.3GHz AMD Athlon II Neo dual core K325 CPU, run Windows 7, have 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and a video card with 512MB of dedicated video memory (probably the usual ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics). Also specified is that it uses about 30.7kWh of electricity per year and has a consumption about 10.6 watts idle.
Energy Star lists the U250 as a notebook/tablet,, but Energy Star describes a number of existing MSI notebooks as notebook/tablet, even though those models are already on the streets and quite clearly ship without a touchscreen.
Energy Star lists a price of $600 for the device.

MSI Wind12 U230 unboxed and reviewed
Mar 21st

The guys from Testfreaks got hands on the new MSI Wind12 U230 with the dual core AMD Athlon Neo X2 L335 processor and ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics.
Benchmarking and comparing it with other netbooks, they do find it fast and recommends it, but comparing benchmarks with netbooks having N270 processors doesn’t really seem fair.
They do however promise to make an update when they have reviewed more equivalent netbooks.
Pros:
+Lightweight and well made
+Dual core AMD CPU let’s you do more things at once
+Nice large keyboard
+Rather large touch pad
+Small and protable like a netbook but powereful like a notebook
Cons:
-Short battery life
-Something wrong with built-in camera, pointing too low
-Trial software, Norton and a lot of stuff installed
-Glossy screen

Intel Atom N470 to launch Monday
Feb 27th
Intel is set to launch the new and faster Atom N470 processor on Monday.
The Atom N470 processor has a clock speed of 1.83GHz vs 1.66GHz on the N450 processor that’s standard with new Pinetrail netbooks. Pricing is expected to be $20 higher.
Unfortunately there is no news about the rumor of added DDR3 memory support yet.
The word is that Atom N470-based netbooks could begin shipping as early as next week. It’s exciting to see if new netbooks will show up, keeping in mind that CeBIT 2010 is just around the corner.
MSI officially announces the U160
Feb 6th
Yesterday MSI officially announced it’s third Wind netbook with the new Intel N450 processor, the U160.
With its new exterior design the U160 has gotten a great deal of attention, and has recently been awarded the German 2010 iF product design award.
Testing has shown that the U160 can achieve battery run-time of up to 15 hours, enabling users to keep working all day without needing to worry about the battery running down.
There is no official details about price and release, but rumors say pricing at $399 with release early March.

Intel launches AppUp Center app store for Atom-powered devices
Jan 8th
Intel has launched a Beta of it’s App Store for Atom powered netbooks. It’s called AppUp Center, and it lets you download applications for netbooks running either Windows or Moblin Linux, although so far only the Windows installer is available right now.
Intel says the first apps that are available cover games, health, education, entertainment, and other areas. There should be a mix of free and paid apps.
Intel eventually plans to expand the app store to work with devices beside netbooks including smartphones, televisions, and other consumer electronics. Some netbook makers are expected to begin shipping PCs with the AppUp Center preloaded, but for now, you can download and install it yourself.
